A Little Extra Something in My Soup

How was the week? You could say I'm missing the snow....  Those pictures made me just a little trunky.  America really is the promised land.  We get snow!!!   Quick question, are you saving the emails so that I can print them off and make some kind of book after mission?  Anything planned for christmas this year? Family parties or anything fun?  It really is coming quick and soon it will be 2014.  Mother,  Im glad I'm still your favorite son.  Being gone for 9 MONTHS I was kind of thinking I wouldn't hold that rank anymore... The reassurance is comforting!  (Elder Zaugg is the only boy in his family)  And no I was not able to get my photos back on the card from that guy.  All I got back from him was a beat up chip...  So hopefully I'll be able to get them back when I get home.  Thank you for the package!!!!  I was SHOCKED to see all the goods!  I put up the decorations last night, and our window is looking quite christmasy.  Feels a little more like home now.... besides the 90 degree weather and the 85% Humidity.  Other than that, You can feel the Christmas CHEER!!!  The Chicken was great!  We haven't had anything else yet, but we're planning on it in the near future.  And I loved the little mini Elf on the Shelf that You sent.  He's been doing some mischief around our apartment.  I took some pictures but I'll have to go to an internet cafe that sends pictures and send it home.  Humpherys and I will be having a big celebration together if we are still together one more transfer.  The transfer ends the 22nd so its right before Christmas.... yuck, I know.  I loved the miracle you shared.  Miracles happen all the time!  God is listening to us and watching over us.

This week I have a few stories that I might have time to share.  If not, at least you'll get one!  This past District Conference Elder Dube talked about how members need to feed the missionaries so they can be uplifted by what they have to share.  I loved it since we don't receive very many meals.  It had effect!  A member told us the following day that he wants us to come to his house and eat food at 1pm.  Thank you Elder Dube!!!  We were so stoked for it!  All 4 of us on Tuesday went to the members  house and his wife was cooking potatoe grains for us.  One of the best soups they have here for rice!  This made us even more excited for the food!  She gets it finished and brings it over to us.  All of us dig in and enjoy.  This was one of the best tasting potato grains I've had!  I was enjoying every bite until I bit on something hard.  Usually the hard pieces are bones from the fish or meat, but this didn't give like bones usually do when you bite them.  This thing was HARD.  I spit it out onto the tin lid and when it hit the lid, it made on odd sound.  I definitely knew it wasn't a bone at this point.  It had a weird look to it, so I picked it up and started examining it a little better.  Then I realized what it was..... someones tooth.  I had been chewing on and throwing around in my mouth someones tooth.  When I first realized what it was, I had Humpherys look into my mouth to make sure it wasn't mine!  Then all the other missionaries did the same thing. haha. Once we knew we all had our teeth, it gave me a little comfort.  But, the thought of a liberians tooth in my mouth kind of made me nausea.  We still don't know who's tooth it was, but most likely it was his wifes tooth.  She could've been tasting the soup and it fell in but she couldn't find it so she left it.  Who knows.... But at least we blessed the food so I won't get sick from it.

This week we had plenty of miracles happen!  I will just share one.  It happened yesterday after church.  We were running late and needed to get home quick so we said a prayer.  At the junction we stood for maybe 2 minutes and then a car came by and picked us up for free.  The man was going in town so he was only able to drop us at Free Port Junction.  It still helped a lot since he took us to the main road.  This was going to be the challenging part though.  Most of the time all the cars are full and when there is an empty one, everyones fighting there way into the spot.  So, we walked down the road small trying to flag down a taxi.  As we were walking, a taxi pulled over infront of us and a woman got out.  We asked the driver if he was going and he said yes.  They asked how far we were going and it was only to Sayon town.  It worked, so we got in the car.  On the ride their, I said a prayer that we would be able to get the ride for free.  Wasn't sure how it was going to happen, but I was praying for it.  When we came to our stop, we asked the driver how much it cost, and he told us just to get out it was fine.  What?!  Free taxi ride?!  No way!!!!!!  My prayer was answered!!  I turned to Humpherys after the car pulled away and talked to him about it, and he said he was praying for the same thing!  We were both in shock at what just happened.  It strengthened our testimonies even more about the power of prayer.  If you ask in faith, and ask according to Gods will and not a selfish desire, He will grant it to you.  And thats exactly what happened here.  God is continually looking out for each and every one of us.

A Quote for the week:
"Being perfect means to triumph over sin! Perfection comes through Triumphing!"
something to just ponder on and think about.

Can't wait to talk to you all in 2 1/2 weeks!!   Love you guys! have an awesome week in the promise Land with all the lovely snow! (;

Love Elder Zaugg
