Livin' The Dream

Hello from LIB!!

HAPPY 21ST BIRTHDAY MOM!!!!  You just get younger and younger every year!!  How do you plan on celebrating!? and don't tell me by going to Deseret book and working till 10 at night.... no, thats not whats suppose to happen on your birthday.  I know you love your job, but give it a break for that day!! Enjoy it!!!  So do explain some of these photos. Temple picture is of what one?  and whos Santa?? Looks like the little ones had lots of fun! and is that an ipad there playing with?? The little ones got more technology than I do.... they'll have to teach Uncle Garrett how to use all the new stuff when he gets home.  Real quick, in the next package you send out, could you send a new watch.... my little thing that turns the hands some how rusted and fell out... I can't find it anywhere.  So now my clock is 50 minutes and also one day behind.  I've got pretty good at telling time with it like this, but I would appreciate if you could throw a watch in there.  Nothing too nice but something water proof (: Even more oxy pads if thats not too much to ask......  They only last 90 times and by the time I get the next package I'll probably be on my second one. I hope I'm not asking too much....  If you're not able, it's alright.

From last Email: Me and Elder Humpherys ALWAYS have a good time.  There's no doubt about that.We are loving the time we have together.  He is now the longest companion I've had on mission.  Even though we make each other mad or irritated, we still love each other and are friends!(:  That just comes from being with someone for 24/7 for 3 1/2 months.  It's been fun and we've had some crazy exeriences together.  Memorable ones for sure!  and Kendra, I've had a scripture that I've been wanting to use but haven't had the chance, and in this last email, you
gave me the perfect window.
D&C 88:124  (...cease to Sleep longer than is needful; retire to thy bed early, that ye may not be weary; arise early, that your bodies and your minds may be invigorated) (;  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to pull a scripture(; haha Love you!

Celebrating twice for New Years sounds pretty sweet!  I cant wait for all this stuff!  The people here don't know how to celebrate... they think celebrating is either getting drunk off their butts or cross dressing and shaking body parts inappropriately in front of you.  Not the kind of partying I'm in to.... sorry yeah?  and about the "Great grub" from Africa.....  Yeeeaahh its not bad.  You kind of get used to it after 10 months...  They eat the same thing for every meal almost.  Majority of the time we eat at members houses, we usually can guess what it is before we even see it.  Potato greens, palm butter, gravy, or beans.   Those are the usual here.  They have different types but they love making this stuff tooo much.  The Grub is good, but you get used to it.

Its crazy how People my age are getting so old on mission.  Cache comes home this year in like 7 months!  Josh reaches his year mark and so does Cody and Dallen!  Everyone will be coming home soon!  Crazy how time flies by!  And Elder Smith is in the same apartment complex, but not same apartment.  Our whole zone is in the same building except the sisters.  The sisters have a separate apartment building across the street.  So yes, Elder Smith is in the same complex and lives next door.  Its sweet having him back!  It's been 4 months since we had seen each other, so it was a good reunion!  I love the miracle that you shared about the temple.  I miss the temple so much and can't wait to go.  The temple video is something I can't wait to see. Also, the Berretts just changed Branches.  They still are over Bushrod Island so we'll still be seeing them!  And about the whole SD card thing.....  That sucker is going to be a surprise until I get home and plug it in the computer for ya(;  No one likes surprises.... they just love giving it ALL away. its no fun that way. (: (This is the reason Elder Zaugg does not send many pictures home. He LOVES surprises.) And about the Fly rice soup...... yeah I've only heard about that one time, and that was from Elder Humpherys.  I've never heard of anyone else eating it.  And no, that is one thing I will NEVER eat.  I've seen what those flies feast on and its not just poop.  Pretty sure you would be more safe eating monkey or some wild bush meat than that. It probably was one of those meals where they didn't have enough money for meat, so they figured the missionaries didn't know any better and would eat it.  Who knows! haha but don't worry, that food will NEVER go in my mouth.  Flies feasting on open wounds and then in your dinner bowl.... not my cup of tea.

This week was interesting.  We had our zone meeting and our LeaderShip training that me And Elder Humpherys were doing. It was crazy....  But the craziest part happened Yesterday at church.  We were sitting in Elder Quorum waiting for it to start, when Elder Backman says,"Elder Zaugg, F. S. D. is teaching...."  I look up and sure enough, someone had called him during the week to teach the class.  Uhhh...... awkward.  People in the branch think he's a member already and the Elders Quorum president made the mistake of telling him he would be a regular teacher in Elders Quorum... You can see how this situation just keeps  getting worse.  I sat down With our 2nd counselor in the Branch and told him, and his eyes about popped out of his head.  He was getting ready to pull F.S.D. down from teaching but I told him just to wait until after the meeting to discuss it.  I was laughing though because the whole time I was just praying that he wasn't going to say anything wrong or false doctrine or give a personal opinion that would cause confusion.... haha He did awesome though!  That is like the perfect calling for him when he gets baptized.  We still are waiting on the okay if he can be baptized or not, so I'll keep you posted.

And Something cool about Doe Community, for the first time on my mission I can say, we are receiving TOO many referrals from members.  we had 16 investigators to church above the age of 18 and the problem we are having, is that we don't have enough time during the week to see all of them.  Isn't that a missionaries dream, to not have enough time to see progressing investigators...  Liberia is flourishing!!  I'm living a dream right now!  Doe Community is an awesome area! One of the people who came to church, was our Rastafarian friend named, Brother Roberts, A.K.A Sam Blaster!!!  He plays the guitar and does a lot of gigs and Sam Blaster is his guitar name.  This past week he said he'd be coming to church, so when we got to church and didn't see him, we were devastated.  But, during Elder Quorum, I was sitting in the back thinking about him not showing up and how disappointed I was.  When out of the corner of my eye, I see a man with Long dreads tied in a pony with some sweet shades on. He was all dressed nice with his top two buttons undone on his shirt revealing  a little chest hair.  This sight made me jump for joy!  I walked over and greeted him, then helped him to his seat!  So cool!!!!!  We'll be teaching him this coming friday so we'll see how it goes!!
I hope you all have a great week!  Love you!

LOVE ELDER ZAUGG
