God Works in Mysterious Ways To Bring Others To His Gospel

Another week in sweet LIB,
Hope Nicole had a good B-day!!  I'm glad you don't look that old!  I cant believe my siblings are all this old!  I haven't even broke 20 yet.  I'm still a teenager!  sad..... close to a month and a half and I'll cross into the 20's.

I have come to know that a mission is definitely a refiners fire.  This is where you get tried and tested until the breaking point and that's when you learn not to break. oh how Africa is preparing me for the rest of my life!!  I'm positive that when I get home there will be nothing that can set me off. I'm learning how to be sooooo patient :) Its good!

This is my 4th transfer here so normally not many stay longer than that.  This is my 9th transfer fyi if you forgot.
 And about Valentines day a couple weeks back.....  we celebrated our lonely lives by eating what we call, a "patience sandwich."  It consists of a 25LD bread with 2 eggs, 10LD mayo, 10LD lebanease ketchup, small onions, and then her secret mixure.  Dont know whats inside, but definitely tastes good.  Best way we could find to celebrate a day that doesn't get recognized by missionaries.  Sounds good yeah?  I'm jealous of the Valentines that Candice had at the Gym.  I miss that place and so does my rice belly.....  This year I am focusing on missionary work with a side of eating less... not to the point of starvation, but close.  Kidding mom, I'm eating enough (;

This week I went on exchange with Elder Smith to his area. MTC brothers coming together once again (; we had fun, but worked hard! We had a few bounces at the begining, but we recovered well and found some lessons to teach. One of the lessons was with Sister S. She was preparing to be baptized the upcoming Saturday so we went to make sure she was ready and to see if she had any concerns. During the lesson she said this,"When I sin, will the Spirit leave?" What a great question to ask. We talked to her about it and explained everything for her understanding. When we had stopped talking, this is what she said,"Everytime we talk about this Spirit business, I can feel Happy!" This is what you like to hear because you could tell that there was something working on the inside of her. She was feeling the Spirit in this lesson for sure. The lesson continued on and we kept talking about the Spirit, and then she described how she was feeling,"Im feeling some kind of joy in my heart right now." This was my first time that I've ever been in a lesson with someone who openly expresses to us how they are feeling as the Spirit is working on them! Talk about cool experience.  You could see the light in her as she was speaking.  At the end of the lesson, she was asking about what she needed to take to the baptism.  Elder Smith was telling her about a towel and under clothes.  I jokingly tossed out a name of a soup they make here and we all laughed.  Guess what, she actually brought food for us the day of her baptism.  I was in the other room when Elder Smith and Elder Guymon come in and tell me this.  They say,"She even brought 3 spoons."  :) She remembered me!  She brought a spoon for her Missionaries, Elder Guymon and Elder Smith, then also an extra one for me.  She's awesome!  She'll be a great addition to their branch in Logan Town.

Also a sweet/sad/interesting thing that happened just now as we got to the Cafe, we were sitting down talking to each other, when both Elder Kamara and I hear a motor cycle engine rev and then "BOOM!!" We look out the window and we see a bullet bike (not the Liberian Motor cycles that sound like electric, but a legit engine that has power) laying in the middle of the road, a guy fifteen feet from the bike, and a car separating the two of them. The first thing I reached for was my camera to snap a quick photo.  Genius right? We then ran down to see if everything was okay, and he was fine.  A minor cut on his eye and that was it. They took him to the hospital to get further check ups, but they left the bike. There was a guy by himself who was pushing the bike off the road and then down the street. I could tell he was struggling with the weight of the bike, so I gave him some help.  Both of us had left our stuff in the cafe, so I let go of the bike and then he continued to struggle.  I felt like we should continue to help him so I had Elder Kamara call Elder Backman to hurry up and get there to watch our stuff.  They were all ready there so it worked out perfect. This bike wasn't small at all. You could tell this thing had too much power.  Anyway, we helped him push the bike to the police station, then walked away.  As we were walking back, the guy we helped came running up to us and introduced himself as S. We got talking and come to find out, he's a police officer that was off duty who lives in our area by the Market. The missionaries used to visit him, but since they got transfered, no one had been back to him. Miracle! We were able to find an old investigator through giving service. He seems like a sweet guy, so we'll see how it goes.  I continue to say this, but God works in Mysterious ways to bring others to his Gospel.

Thanks for the packages that will be coming!  I dont think I'll be with Elder Kamara when He receives his, but he'll still enjoy it I'm sure!  I love you all and hope that you continue to see the miracles in your own lives each day.

Love Elder Zaugg
