Well.... you already know what it is....... I'm HUMPING this week!!! Also,
congratulations for making it 28 years together! I can only imagine the ups and
downs you have gone through. Being with the same person for 4 months makes me
want to pull my hair out... so 28 years?! Congrats!(; I know marriage is
different then mission, but there are similarities. What are you doing to
celebrate? I want pictures of this day next Monday! Congratulations to my sister on getting engaged. Did he go to Jareds? Congratulations to the two of you! I'm excited
for the wedding! Oh, wait.... I'll be in Liberia. never mind. (Low blow....?(; that's what I was going for. hahahaha(; kidding) At least this lovely chubby
cheeked face will be in your video though. Still working on that FYI....
From last weeks email:
The last part in your email where
you said you should be reading more than you are, I would agree. I don't know if
you still study in the morning, but that'd be something good to keep doing. The
scriptures open your mind to so much good insight! Every page has something new
to read if your study topic is different. You'll look at each passage of
scripture differently if you go through the whole Book of Mormon with one topic
you want to learn more about. That is what I'm doing right now about trials and
the Atonement, and I have picked up a lot more insight on each page. Its
interesting to see how much more you learn when you are studying about a topic
and not just going through The Book of Mormon. You'll still get insight that
way, but its better to have a specific topic.
My dream has come true!!I I have a child named after me! Its in my old
area Banjor. How sweets that?! The parents are A. and C. They were the
two that we would teach with that Pastor I always talked about. She was prego
when I was serving there and finally had her baby! When I had Elder Bowring
take my book around to have people sign it, C. wrote in there that he is now
the father of little Elder Zaugg. Hahahah how would that be to have your name
be Elder and then Zaugg. pretty sweet if you ask me(; All the village kids
will be jealous of his name! ohhh Liberia.... (:
I don't know if I've made mention of my Rasta friend that we've been
teaching? Anyway, if I haven't, you'll now know about him today. His name is
S.R. The man was hard core into
Fornicating and doing hard drugs, but now has changed. He hasn't done cocaine
or any of that stuff since 2009. He is always to church Every Sunday and won't
miss! The thing I wanted to talk about, was the lesson we had with his wife.
Our focus in the mission has been on finding husbands and wives to help the
branches out. So, we focused on getting some time with his wife. The lesson
this week, we had scheduled to have a member come with us so we'd have someone
there from the community like them, to bear strong testimony. Well, it fell
through... no member. We couldn't find anyone. Sister N. was sick, so
she wasn't able to come either. We decided to go and teach anyway. Brother
R. came in the lesson as well. We started the lesson, and then went into
teaching about the Restoration of the church. She had great questions and
understood all of the lesson. When it came to the end, we looked to brother
R. to see if he had anything he wanted to share,( he looked anxious) and he
said yes! So, we gave him the floor. I have never heard a more powerful
testimony born about Joseph Smith and The Book of Mormon from an investigator to
another investigator then that day. Unbelievable!! The Spirit was there! I
love having our investigators share their testimony because that is how it makes
them become even more converted! Their testimony will continue to grow. So, me
and Elder Kamara now have investigators present whenever we don't have a member (; create an environment for their testimony to grow right?? What better
way then to have them in a lesson! We don't do it to everyone, but to the
ones that are starting to know its true, we definitely use.
Another thing that happened on Wednesday, we had our Family class! I felt
like this week we should talk on listening. We focused on how we need to listen
to our children, spouses, and the holy ghost. Everyone has their needs, and if
we don't listen to what they are, then we won't be able to help. The lesson was
good! But, then I had an activity planned. Do you remember the Telephone
game? Where you whisper into the persons ear a phrase and then they do it to
the person next to them and so forth until it comes back around. yeah, that's the game we played! They loved it haha everyone was laughing and having a good
time! They tell us that the missionaries always know how to have a good time.
This is what kind of a class you get when you get 20 year old boys teaching
grown adults. I love it though and so do they. They ask us some profound
questions about what they should be doing as parents to help their children.
Sometimes I just sit there and think... "They put so much trust and confidence
into us missionaries who haven't even experienced having children." People
trust missionaries and have confidence that we have answers to everything. We
do end up answering them, but only because the Spirit gives us the correct
response. If it wasn't for the Spirit..... I don't know what I'd do. Its so
nice having someone else give you things to say! We missionaries don't have to
come up with anything!!! Its simple. We just need to listen and everything
will go smooth. The mouth piece for the holy ghost is a simple job(: I love
it!
Once again... I forgot a scripture.. sorry. I do love you and hope that is
sufficient this week! Remember to put God first, and everything will be
alright! Love you!!!!
Love Elder Zaugg
