Transfer News

Transfer news!!!!  Get ready for it........ drum roll please............................................................................ Elder Humpherys and I are staying together!!!!!!!!  Not....  (;  haha Elder Humpherys is getting transferred to Garndersville to be a Zone Leader with his mission father!  That doesn't happen very often.  Should be pretty sweet!  I am staying in Doe Community for my 4th transfer and have received Elder Kamara as my new companion.  He's from Sierra Leone and is the MTC right before me.  This is his first transfer as Zone Leader, so I'll be the one training him.  It's definitely different. I miss Elder Humpherys.... we were together 24/7 with each other since September 29.... we became like brothers.  It felt like I was  leaving for the mission field again saying bye to him. It wasn't fun.  Elder Kamara and I will do great work together though.  I knew him from the beginning of my mission but then he left to the other side of Monrovia and I hadn't seen him since.  So he's not a stranger!  Some sad news though.....  

To answer the question you had mom about the crazy ties.....  They get ties shipped from America here that have been used.... so if you call those crazy, then yes! haha kidding. I haven't bought any of those ties, but I have bought some ties that all the Nigerians love.  They're called Jatala ties.  They're pretty sweet and only cost 5 dollars, but for Africans that's a lot of money.    I read small in the email about sister Berrett!   You'll have to keep me updated on them!  We miss them a lot out here!  

And the SuperBowel...??  What happened there?  Probably boring to watch huh?  The final score was what? 40 something to 8?  Someone told me but I had my mind on something else when they told me.

Something crazy I thought of when I was thinking about how many transfers we have left... we call home after next transfer again.  Time is flying really quick.  This transfer I'll be turning one year and then things will be counting down for sure.  Mission life is crazy..... And my popcorn balls.... psh.... please..  No one can have this recipe.  Secret recipes wouldn't be secret if I told you.... I'll let you try some though when I get home.  But to have knowledge of the ingredients... not possible. (;

Thats cool you were able to sit down with the Berretts and talk.  Its weird to think that they were here not too long ago and now you're there taking pictures with them.  I hope they can come back quick!  Did you guys get to watch the thanksgiving video we put on their computer then?  Now you'll know what we were talking about on thanksgiving!  And the socks that you sent for Christmas, I noticed a difference.  The ones I have now are crunchy and stiff, and the ones I got for Christmas are soft and smooth.  Feels nice (: other than that, they feel the same with moisture.

This week is Lukes farewell I believe so tell him good luck and give him a hug for me.  I'll send him an email today and let him know and tell him good luck. 

This week Elder Humpherys and I had to stay in for two days because both of us got something that didn't go over well with our bodies....  Elder Humpherys was throwing up and had to stay up all night by the toilet.  I stayed up with him so he'd have some company but we both ended up passing out by the bathroom door on the floor.  Sounds gross I know, but when you're that tired you don't care.

Funny story happened yesterday, We were closing for the week with our goals when our neighbor stood at the door and yelled for us.  We went to see what he wanted and he told us that he wanted to use some paper.  Alright.  so, I ask,"You want lined or blank?"  Didn't reply.  So, we took him both, and when we showed him which one, he said,"no. no. no."  Then did a rolling motion with his fingers and stuck it to his mouth.  OH that's the paper you're looking for.  Awkward.... we don't have that kind.  You can take our lined paper though.  Elder Humpherys and I just laughed at each other and walked away.  Is the guy oblivious to our bibles we carry around everyday?  Maybe, who knows.   Made for a great story.
